A village, the world - and the longing for a self-determined life. This is the theme of the successful novel "Two Lives" (2024) by bestseller author Ewald Arenz. In 1971 in a village in southern Germany, two women struggle for self-fulfillment. There is twenty-year-old Roberta Strasser, who would love to design beautiful dresses in Paris - but as the only child of her parents, she has to help on the farm. Then there is Gertrud, the pastor's wife, originally from Hamburg. After 20 years of country living, she longs to escape the village and her stale marriage.
