Buenos Aires, 1956: Under the alias Gregor, Josef Mengele, the notorious concentration camp doctor from Auschwitz, lives in exile. Thanks to an extensive support network, he successfully evades international prosecution for years. The gripping feature film, starring August Diehl in the lead role, follows Mengele's escape routes - from Argentina through Paraguay to Brazil, where he ultimately lives under a false identity in Sao Paulo. Increasingly marked by illness, age, and isolation, his life becomes more and more restricted. When his son Rolf eventually finds him, a confrontation with the past ensues.
