Winter Hike

This is the perfect combination for a winter's day: Experience the winter landscape in the nature reserve Schönecker Schweiz during a cozy walk with llamas and alpacas, and then refresh yourselves with warm drinks and light snacks!

Our alpacas and llamas graze just below Schönecken Castle on a traditional orchard meadow. There, we get to know the animals in a relaxed manner and learn how to lead these patient and curious creatures. Then our walk around the nature reserve "Schönecker Schweiz" begins!

Our winter walk takes us around the ridge "Rammenfeld". First, we walk on a paved path out of the village. Just behind the last houses, we are on a grassy nature trail and enjoy the wide views of the fields and meadows at Burbach. Now we walk along the Altburgbach stream. Here we take a short break and have time to photograph the animals.

Another highlight of our winter hike comes shortly after: the ruin of Schönecken Castle, whose two massive towers rise high above Schönecken. Passing by Wilhelmshöhe, we return to our meadow after our cozy, roughly one-hour mulled wine hike without significant elevation changes.

Upon arrival, the grazing time begins: We unclip the animals and give them delicious hay to eat. With a bit of luck, you can continue to pet the animals or even brush them a little. Enjoy the tranquility and serenity of the animals in their familiar environment!

While the animals eat leisurely, there are delicious warm punch and mulled wine available for the two-legged guests – both homemade with spices from the Orient. During the pre-Christmas season, we serve pastries and dates from Oman; after the New Year, spicy finger food. After this cozy conclusion, we sadly have to say goodbye to the llamas and alpacas.

What to bring: sturdy footwear, day backpack, warm waterproof clothing, headgear (warm hat), and gloves (no umbrellas)
