Andreas Schickentanz – Trombone, electronics

Building on his first solo CD AXIOM (JazzHausMusik JHM 230), Andreas Schickentanz has developed a live solo program for trombone and electronic effects. In the convergence of the rich sound spectrum of the trombone and the diverse possibilities of electronic enhancement, entirely new sonic and formal structures, ideas, and performance outcomes emerge. Loops, meaning sound loops, compressions, but also lucid, transparent surfaces and sound fields are created. These generated sounds are sometimes very close to the instrument trombone (which is always the starting point), and sometimes very far away. This results in compositional-like structures and free improvisations that circle around themselves and are broken open.
