Gerdi Haas, née Irsfeld, was born on October 20, 1934, in Mürlenbach/Eifel. After her marriage to Hansgerd Haas, she moved to Prüm in 1962.
Through her contact with the painter Antonia Berning from the artist settlement in Weißenseifen, she came to watercolor painting in 1974, which at that time represented the focus of her work.
She primarily draws her artistic impulses from her Eifel homeland. Not only painting but also ceramics and weaving are possible forms of expression for her.
From 1979 to 1998, she worked as an art educator at the vocational school for social services in Prüm and as a lecturer for numerous adult education courses at the community college.
In 1997, she received the Kaiser-Lothar Prize from the EVBK.
Gerdi Haas passed away on December 25, 2021, at the age of 87.
