Pure village life: Our castle (built in 1509) is located in the middle of the picturesque Schönecker Schweiz in the old and quiet village center of Hersdorf.Our comfortably furnished vacation apartment in the former barn is the ideal starting point for hikes and explorations of the Eifel - from the volcanic Eifel with the maars to the High Fens and Luxembourg. Guests with children are just as welcome as guests with pets. Just come and relax and unwind. We look forward to seeing you! The accommodation The vacation apartment is built into a former barn. It has a large living room with adjoining kitchen area, a fireplace, a dining area and a living area with sofa (can be converted into a sofa bed). A wooden staircase leads to the gallery with the sleeping area. From the entrance, however, you first enter the hallway with checkroom and the modern bathroom with walk-in shower. Access for guests In front of the vacation apartment is a loggia with seating and a partially covered barbecue area, which our guests are welcome to use by prior arrangement. Our village Hersdorf is a tiny village with about 400 inhabitants. Our castle is in a very quiet location. There are no shops in the village, no bakery and unfortunately no village pub. So bring something with you for breakfast the morning after your arrival. But there is fresh milk straight from the farmer. We will be happy to put a bottle of milk in the fridge for the first morning if you order in advance.As in many places in the Eifel, the mobile phone network is not ideal. So you won't have reception everywhere in the apartment.The nearest small supermarket, bakery, pubs, restaurants etc. can be found in Schönecken, about 4 km away.More restaurants, museums and a good ice cream parlor can be found in Prüm, about 8 km as the crow flies from Hersdorf.

The bathroom has been beautifully renovated, with ancient stone troughs for washing, standing on ancient oak planks.With a shower and bathtub, you can really feel at home here.A narrow staircase leads upstairs, where your gaze wanders directly back to the massive quarry stone fireplace of the oven.Here you will also find a single bed and a small workstation.Up here you will also find the small but beautiful bedroom, with a tiny walk-in closet and dressing table.At the other end is the living room with a large TV, a sofa bed and a view of the terrace. You own the entire detached bakery, including the terrace with garden furniture, sauna and plenty of parking spaces. Your check-in is completely contactless, but if you wish I can be available as I live directly opposite.Not suitable for small children or people who are less mobile, as the upper floor is only accessible via a small STAIRWAY.

Small, beautifully situated holiday village with a total of eight wooden log houses directly on the edge of the forest on a sunny slope approx. 1200 m from the center of Schönecken, very quiet. Ideal for families with children. The upper part of the house is for four people, lower part apartment for two people. We have built a new playhouse for our little guests. In the playhouse there is a climbing frame for the little ones and many nice toys that invite you to play together. Outside there is a slide and swings. The large, sheltered and covered patio offers plenty of space at the large table for board games and in the evening the adults like to end the day there in a relaxed atmosphere. Holiday village with 18 high-quality equipped, new, modern holiday homes for 1 to 7 people (76-97m²) in a quiet location on the edge of the forest 3 km from the Carolingian town of Prüm. Terrace, sauna, TV, free parking, some with wood-burning stove and fully equipped kitchen including dishwasher and microwave. In Prüm (4 km by car, 3 km on foot) you will find all shops for your daily needs. Information about excursion destinations can be obtained from the tourist information centre: www.eifel.info There are currently no new building works in the park. Laundry can be washed and dried in the washing machine room (white container with key pad) (4 x 1€), detergent 0.50€. If you would like to use our hot tub, please contact us. Please only use the parking space belonging to your house or the parking spaces in front of house 3, next to the blue container or above house 10. Please do not park in the turning hammers. Two tea towels and two dishcloths as well as a dishwasher cloth are always provided. For reasons of hygiene, no food (including sugar, spices, coffee or tea) is allowed in the houses! The coffee machines are filter coffee machines. Travel cots and / or highchairs can be collected from our warehouse on arrival if required (free of charge while stocks last). These must be returned cleaned on departure. A large number of marked hiking trails start very close to the houses, allowing you to discover the fascinating landscape.
