Young cyclists on old railway lines

Family Bike Trails in the Prümer Land Region – Explore the Open Country, Ride Safely

Set amid open meadows, quiet valleys, and clear streams, the Prüm region offers a cycling paradise that effortlessly blends exercise with the beauty of the landscape. Here, you won’t be riding in traffic, but on dedicated paths—quiet, well-marked, and with the satisfying feeling of being out and about together. Two routes stand out in particular: the Eifel-Ardennes Cycle Route and the Nims Cycle Route.

The Eifel-Ardennes Cycle Route follows the historic railway line from Prüm to Sankt Vith. Where trains once ran, you now ride on gentle slopes along asphalt, past meadows, fields, and wooded hills. The wide curves and the consistent route away from car traffic create a pleasant sense of safety—especially when different generations are riding together.

Passing Schönecken Castle and through the Schönecker Schweiz, the Nims Cycle Path takes you through a different landscape. The river sets the course, meandering gently, accompanied by floodplains, bridges, and wooded slopes. The topography is moderate, and the distance from motorized traffic is a key factor in the experience. This creates a space for activity where cycling technique, nature observation, and shared experiences intertwine.

In the Prümer Land, you have the open road with great views!
