Make your way to produce iron here in the Eifel, following the example of our ancestors, using self-built racing furnaces made from iron ores and coal. In exciting experiments in the microwave, glass beads are "melted together" from glass powder or brass.


Holiday Workshop

It glows and sparks fly – It is always fascinating when very high temperatures are reached during chemical reactions. In this workshop, glowing pig iron will be produced in a self-built furnace made of fire bricks.
In muffles and microwaves, beautiful glass beads are created from white powders; by adding different salts, these can also be dyed in various colors. Temperatures will be generated that are sufficient to melt metals together to create brass nuggets.
In this workshop, chemistry truly shows what it can do. Sign up and join in!

Participants from grades 6 to 9 are welcome. Registration at SFZ Prümer Land is required.
