Konvikt - Haus der Kultur
Small art pop from the deepest province.
Concert
You lose most of your body heat through your head—so why not just put on a hat, or go see a concert by Shakti and Matze?
They spread good cheer and help you escape the daily grind; their songs and stories are true sources of warmth. Over hundreds of concert nights throughout Germany, they’ve taken their audience’s minds off things and won over many fans.
Shakti and Matze sing about a gold record, Beatles messages, a magic bus, Captain Picard the frog, their journeys through the night, seven-zone barrel-shaped pocket-spring mattresses—and they have a farewell song for people who still say “Tschüssikowski.”
You’re sure to see yourself reflected in their songs and stories.
In addition to guitars and vocals, you’ll hear an autoharp, a Stylophone, wah-wah pedals, jaw harps, a keyboard glockenspiel, kazoos, percussion, and whatever else fits in their suitcase.
They spent several months on the chart of the best songs, won the Belziger Bachstelze Cabaret Award, have been nominated for the Franconian Cabaret Award 2026 and the Emmendingen Cabaret Award, and one of their numerous albums has just been honored at the 43rd Rock & Pop Prize 2025 as “Best Chanson Album.”
The Rheinpfalz writes: “Somewhere between musical cabaret and the singer-songwriter genre, the finest cabaret pop is flourishing in the provinces, with the very latest Deutsche Welle—without any electronics—flooding the ears of highly amused concertgoers.”
