The snowdrops usually begin to bloom in early March and continue into April. However, this also depends on the weather.
You’ll have the best chance of seeing the flowers in March. For a peaceful experience, we recommend visiting early in the morning or during the week.
The most beautiful stands grow in the moist beech forests and stream valleys around Schönecken. The vast carpets of flowers can be found especially in the Schalkenbach and Altburger stream valleys.
A real highlight is the Prümer Land Tour Route 2. This roughly 12-kilometer hike takes you right through the most beautiful snowdrop-filled areas and offers a variety of scenic views. This makes the route ideal if you want to fully experience the blooms.
Schönecken is located in the Western Eifel and is easily accessible by car. You’ll find parking at the hiking lot and in town. Alternatively, you can take the bus from Prüm or Bitburg.
