Come join us for our cozy mulled wine hike! Enjoy a relaxing afternoon: Our short llama and alpaca hike is also perfect for kids. After the walk, we’ll snack on treats out in the pasture and warm up with punch and mulled wine.
Winter Hike
This is the perfect way to spend a winter day: Experience the winter landscape in the Schönecker Schweiz Nature Reserve on a leisurely walk with the llamas and alpacas, and then warm up with hot drinks and light snacks!
Our alpacas and llamas graze in an orchard meadow right below Schönecken Castle. There, we’ll get to know the animals in a relaxed setting and learn how to lead these patient and curious creatures. Then our walk through the “Schönecker Schweiz” nature reserve begins!
Our winter walk takes us around the “Rammenfeld” ridge. First, we walk along a paved path out of the village. Just past the last houses, we’ll be on a grassy nature trail, enjoying the sweeping view of the fields and meadows along the Burbach. Now we’ll head along the Altburgbach stream. Here we’ll take a short break and have time to take photos with the animals.
A little later, another highlight of our winter hike is the Schönecken castle ruins, whose two mighty towers rise high above Schönecken. Passing by the Wilhelmshöhe, we return to our pasture after our leisurely, roughly one-hour mulled wine hike, which involves no significant elevation changes.
Once here, grazing time begins: We remove the animals’ halters and give them delicious hay to eat. With a little luck, you’ll be able to continue petting the animals or even brush them a bit. Enjoy the peace and serenity of the animals in their familiar surroundings!
While the animals eat with relish, the two-legged guests are treated to delicious warm punch and mulled wine—both, of course, homemade with spices from the Orient. During the pre-Christmas season, we serve pastries and dates from Oman; after the New Year, we offer savory finger foods. After this cozy finale, we’ll unfortunately have to say goodbye to the llamas and alpacas.
