Kleine Winter-Wanderung (individuell)

On this entertaining discovery, it’s just you and your guide. The approximately two and a half hour hike takes you through the forests and over the meadows in the nature reserve "Schönecker Schweiz." You can enjoy mulled wine & treats (optional) afterwards in the cozy construction trailer by the fireplace.

Hike

Our alpacas and llamas graze on vast pastures near the Schönecken castle ruins. There, we’ll get to know the animals at our own pace and learn how to lead them respectfully—without petting or feeding them, but with calmness and mindfulness. Then our shared hiking adventure through the “Schönecker Schweiz” nature reserve begins.
Right at the start, we descend into the valley of the Altburgbach stream. Orchard meadows line our path, with the slender silhouettes of juniper bushes rising up among them. We follow the stream as it winds its way through the forest in countless twists and turns—always accompanied by the calm, watchful gaze of our canine companions. After a while, we spot a towering rock, hidden among the beech trees: Here stands an ancient refuge fortress, once built by the Celts as a place of safety.
A narrow path leads us steeply up to the rocky ridge. Once at the top, we enjoy the view and take a short break. Anyone who’d like to can explore the rocks or have their picture taken with the llamas. Shortly thereafter, we reach the “Op Ischt” plateau—from here, the view stretches far across the Eifel landscape all the way to the Hohe Venn. In the warmer months, rare, protected plants such as wild orchids grow on the slopes. The hike concludes at the impressive Schönecken castle ruins—a 13th-century relic that still towers high above the village today.
Back at our pasture, we say goodbye to the alpacas and llamas as they return to their familiar surroundings.
If you’d like, you can round out the excursion with an optional mulled wine package : Our cozy construction trailer with a fireplace is warm and inviting—ideal for small groups of six to ten people. There, we serve homemade mulled wine or punch, spiced with Middle Eastern flavors, along with winter pastries and dates from Oman. In the weeks following New Year’s, we offer savory finger foods instead of sweets. A truly special nature experience—relaxed, personal, and unforgettable.

What to bring: Hiking boots with sturdy, non-slip soles, daypack, water bottle, rainproof clothing, headwear (depending on the season—for sun, rain, or cold)

Participants: Exclusive, private tour for a small group of at least 6 people

Requirements: Average fitness level required (total distance approx. 6–8 km, elevation gain 110 m); minimum age for leading an animal: 10 years. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed.
